storage terminals
WIP Terminal currently stores over 700,000 barrels of fuel/ petroleum product with the ability for further storage capability, due to its additional land area and space for expansion of its storage facilities.
WIP Terminal is comprised of two terminal facilities:
- The South Terminal located at Port Esquivel, St. Catherine.
- The North Terminal located at Ocho Rios Pier, St. Ann which is a smaller facility.
The terminals provide fuel to WIP Energy for distribution across the island for both large and small operations, and facilitates regional export, and bunkering operations for cruise and cargo ships in port around Jamaica.
WIP Terminal’s storage operations, allow for the collection and delivery for the wholesale and distribution of fuel/ petroleum for our onshore, land sales customers in the B2B market that covers gas stations and fuel depots across Jamaica.
WIP North Terminal’s storage operations provide direct fuelling for cruise liners and other bunkering operations at the Ocho Rios Pier, primarily for the cruise tourism industry with direct piping underwater that runs and connects to cruise liners and cargo vessels.
The terminals also serve as the delivery access point for providing fuel to our vessels serving clients at Outer Port Limits as well as throughout the Caribbean and LATAM region
WIP TERMINAL SOUTH, PORT ESQUIVEL, ST. CATHERINE, JAMAICA
- WIP Terminal South is centrally located for Intra and Inter-Island Distribution.
- Designated as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) under the Jamaican Government and the WTO, the facilty can store petroleum products and ethanol for export without incurring any taxes unless the product is exported into Jamaica by land (through the gate).
- West Indies Petroleum is licensed by the Government of Jamaica to import petroleum products into the island and to distribute said petroleum products.
- Petroleum products supplied to the bunkering industry are considered as exports and are therefore exempt from any duties or taxes.
- The provisions as it relates to the facility have been implemented under a new global tax agreement as of December 31, 2015, whereby the facility was “grandfathered” into the legislation as a SEZ from a Freezone under which it had operated for 8 years prior to being acquired by WIP.
